I like my master and my entire family. In my family, i have a half sister JOY who is a female puppy rescued from the street and a half brother who is younger to me by few days also a pug called VAYU the pug, Vayu is unlike me and very hyper active, he also writes blogs like me. Well some feel I am a bit on the heavier side, so i go for very long walks daily twice. I like pedigree, drools and chicken. Loyalty

Being Loyal is inborn to our species. Dogs have been friends to humans from ages. They acted as guards to protect master and his house even before the concept of sentries existed. Even some banks like the syndicate bank, use the Alsatian Dog as a symbol of protector of money.

We like to be loyal because we like our master. Our master is like god to us and he is our only known god.
There are several heroic stories of our ancestors saving their masters from dangers.
But when it comes to me, yes accepted that I am not a doggie symbol for bravery, but I can be a great emotional support to my master. I understand my masters moods and behave accordingly. I am silent if my master is serious and jubilant if they are celebrating at home. Apart from this, I react to the sound of pin to plane that crosses our house even in dread est of nights.

Well that is what I call Loyalty. I stand for it by every bit to be worthy of being a dog.

CLAWS & PAWS

We are not from CAT family. he he we do not have claws, but we need to be careful with our paws. The gaps in between our nails and below our paws, ticks can creep in and prey. Even soars can come if they are not kept clean. Especially after every walk outside, it is preferred to keep our paws clean and dry. This way there will be regular monitoring of our paws and they can be healthy and clean.

Also, if our paws are clean we can climb up onto the sofas and beds and we wouldn't leave our pug marks on the bed sheets.

So remember to clean our paws daily.

SMALL IS CUTE

This image is sourced from the following URL - http://www.google.co.in/search?

Shih-Tzu Its friendly and good with kids. Its rare quality is that it does not shed its hair. They eat very little and they are lazy dogs, dont like to walk much and can get tired very easily. They want their master to pamper them and they expect royal treatment. Obviously, one should not expect them to be a watch dog.
They have a very fast hair growth and the hair touches the feet and ground in less than 3 months time. depending on the nutrition and health.

Thier origin is believed to be from Chinese royalty.Chinese emprors used to keep them at their feet to keep their feet warnm and soft .

This habit reflects in them even now as if it were imprinted in their DNA strongly that they happen to sleep near the feet. It is thought that the breed developed by crossing miniature Chinese breeds with small Tibetan breeds – in particular, Lhasa Apsos with the Pekingese.

They need air-conditioning all the time or they will start getting skin diseases
They have strong feet. Their weak part is dace and eyes.

SHIH - TZU  aren't they cute?

THE HIDING TRUTH

What looks cute and lazy on our faces can become a major problem for us. I am talking about the multiple folds on our face. Regular cleaning of the skin underneath these layers is a must. Else, fungus of moisture forms in them and leads to irritable skin allergies. Sometimes, it can even start bleeding.

The pity is that those are the areas that we cannot clean for ourselves. So inevitably, we will require your help to keep us clean and dry.

Now you know, where to look for the hiding dirt on our face.

INTUITION

We know we are dogs. But that does not make us inferior to humans in many ways. Most of us animals have intuitive powers that bring us close to mother nature. Maybe the evolution of man has drawn him away from the natural instinct which most of us still have. Birds are the first to sense weather changes, monkeys too get very disturbed at times of earth quakes and natural disasters. Of course compared to all those animals we pugs are definitely lazier, but do not underestimate our powers. At least we are very concerned about our masters moods and behave accordingly. If my master is angry I become very silent and am dead scared to make any noise. Adding to this, if the health of any member in the family is low, we understand and make no noise to maintain peace at home.

So as I have claimed, we may not be the best at intuitive powers but do have sufficient common sense to behave as per the situation. We react to our master's happiness, sadness, anger and joy. We have a great day; when people are happy at home. We are simple puppies and do not like complication. We live happily and let others live happily.

Happy pugs

TICKS AND FLEAS - OUR WORST ENEMIES

It is common in this world that when somebody is working hard, there will be a couple of miscreants around them who try to suck their blood and make their living. Be it corruption or extortion among humans, the victims are exploited and the beneficiaries enjoy to do that for their own selfish gains. Biologically we call them parasites, those who dwell and live on others for their existence.

In dogs such parasites are Ticks and Fleas. So next time you come across someone asking for a bribe or threatening you to cough up huge sums, you know what to call them.

Ticks are most dangerous to us as they cling on to vulnerable spots on our skin, especially the tender parts and start to suck our blood and grow bigger by the day. These ticks are somewhat like the lice in human hair. Some are dark brown and some are grey. They are tiny but start to grow big and big as they amass our blood.. Damn things are painful.

Tick collars are available that can be used if the problem is persisting. generally it is the surroundings and hygiene that can keep ticks away from us.

Fleas are those which are flying spiders, brown in shade, their saliva is most dangerous causing skin irritation and rashes to us.

So both of them are our dreaded enemies and we are helpless against warring with them.
So kindly take care of us and keep our enemies at bay.

Dr.Lakshmi and her team of doctor's are ever energetic and caring.
Recently my distant cousin a Labrador named 'Lakme' had an ear bittten by another doggie.
It was emergency, but the time was nearly 9 pm.

Dr.Lakshmi after a hectic day left for home. But when she recieved the message that suturing
was required, she immediately came back from home and attended. Hats off to her commitment.
All is not just money in this world, there are many who take their price, yet do not deliver.

Myself, my small Bro Vayu the pug, my half sister Joy a street mongrel, my cousin Lakme
and another doggie Elisa .. all of us are Dr.Lakshmi's patients and have been looked after well
by all doctors and attenders of the clinic.

The latest here is that all our records are being fed into their computerized database
and our entire record and history of treatment is online for any doctor to access while treatment.
This also enables the clinic to intimate our master's for recheck up and other reminders
for further treatments.

Isin't it amazing?

Kudos to Dr.Lakshmi once again.

It is a trusted clinic for years now and you will feel the human touch and commitment here.
There might have been few stray incidents of dissatisfaction for some, but I am sure they are very few.

I WANT TO TRAVEL WITH YOU

HOW SHOULD WE TRAVEL?

When summer comes, all families plan for their vacation well in advance. Booking of tickets, reservations, hotels, informing relatives, car travels ... oh my the list is endless and the excitement is on the top.

But most of us pets miss out, on this rare opportunity to travel along with our masters and share all that fun. Not because our masters want to leave us, but because of the lack of proper travel arrangements for us specially public transport, they are forced to leave us behind in our own good interest. Quite disheartening it can be for both of us.

For tourists hotels do not allow pets to reside. restaurants cannot let us even a space in the corner. Even if we are allowed by a kind hear-ted restaurant manager, he has to take back his word if another customer complaints.

Well leaving the pessimism aside for a while, what are the options available for us to travel? Lets have an overview:

INDIAN RAILWAY RULE AND RATES FOR CONVEYANCE OF DOGS :

1.        Dogs when carried in the break-van and/or A.C.C. and first class passenger compartments will be charged for at Scale 'L'(luggage Rates)on the basis of weights indicated below, subject to a minimum charge of Rs.10/- per dog, charges being Prepaid: When carried in break_van (Dog-Box) 30 Kgs When carried in passengers compartments 60 Kgs "Seeing Eye" dog traveling with a blind person in the compartment (First class) will, however, be charged the same tariff as for dogs carried in brake_van. The dogs must be provided with Collars and Chains. Owners should make their own arrangements for food and water for the dog during the journey. Dogs detected unbooked will be charged at six times the Luggage Scale Rate subject to a minimum of Rs.50/-
2.        A passenger traveling in First Air condition class or first class may take a dog into the compartment only with the concurrence of fellow passengers on payment of charges vide Clause(1) above. The charges are to be prepaid. If fellow passengers subsequently object to the dog remaining in the compartment, it will be removed to the Guard's van, no refund being given. Dogs detected unbooked with the passenger in IA and Ist class compartments will be charged six times the Luggage scale Rate subject to a minimum of Rs.50/-. A lady travelling alone with children under 12 years of age in a first class compartment may take with her in the compartment one dog on payment of charges at the Dog Box Rates, subject to a minimum of Rs.10/-provided that if another lady enters the compartment, the dog can only be allowed to remain in the compartment with her consent. Any dog detected unbooked will be charged at double the dog-box rate for the distance up to the point of detection and at the dog-box rate for the distance beyond the total charge being subject to a minimum of Rs.20/- for each dog.
3.        Dogs are not allowed to be carried in ACC Sleeper Coaches, Acc chair car coaches sleeper class and second class coaches. If a dog is found being carried in contravention of this rule, it will be removed immediately to the brake-van and charges will be levied six times the Luggage Scale Rate subject to a minimum of Rs.50/-
4.        Charge for dog carried in reserved compartments will be levied at the dog-box rate. Any dog detected unbooked will be charged six times the Luggage Scale Rate subject to a minimum of Rs.50/-
5.        Large dogs which cannot be carried in the dog-box of a brake van will be carried in a special vehicle at the same rates and conditions as for horses.

Car Travel:

If we were to travel in a car and if it is day time, then our owners should be careful about the outside temperatures and preferable that they carry along a wet wrap or towel and keep our body temperatures cool by wrapping us around in the wrap.

For more information on pets and car travel also refer to my brother VAYU's blog-

http://vayupug.blogspot.in/2012/04/leaving-us-in-unattended-in-cars-may-be.html

Leaving us in unattended in cars may be fatal !

Flight travel:

I am yet to receive authentic information from airways operators. If any one knows info they can contribute in the interest of all pets.

Whatever the mode of transport, whatever the troubles of travel, we would like to be with our masters. Hope, we make our point clear.
